Echoes of the Flame has been announced for PC via Steam as a 2.5D story-driven turn-based RPG developed and published by Konno Tobari. The game centers on two parties traveling in parallel toward the sacred peak of Coral, with the story told through alternating perspectives. The current release target is 2026, and Japanese is the only confirmed launch language. English and Simplified Chinese are planned for 2027.

The setup follows the Flame Wardens, guardians of the cycle of souls, on two separate journeys that appear designed to intersect around the same destination. On one side is Haku, joined by Kaji and Mikoto; on the other is Ren, traveling with Maruka and Rakan. That dual-route structure is more than a narrative hook, because it shapes how the game presents its world, its cast, and the sense of progression. The estimated playtime is 10 to 15 hours, which suggests a focused RPG rather than a long campaign built around dozens of hours of side content.
Combat is turn-based and does not use random encounters, so each fight is framed as a deliberate tactical challenge. Shields are a core mechanic: enemies must have their shield pressure reduced before HP damage becomes the main focus. Progression also avoids standard leveling, since Combat Points earned through the story are spent on active skills, passive abilities, and stat boosts. Spirit Stones can be slotted into weapons and armor to tailor equipment, and status buildup is tied to gear effects. An Easy Mode is also planned for players who want to focus more on story and exploration.
If you enjoyed the narrative and visual style of games like Octopath Traveler, this is definitely one to keep your eyes on.
