Karma Exorcist has been announced by Infini Fun and Cyclos as a side-scrolling action Metroidvania inspired by Eastern mythology. The game is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, although no release date has been announced yet.

The story setup focuses on a ruined underworld ravaged by evil karma. In the official description, good and evil karma work like an invisible force that shapes the balance of the Three Realms, while the underworld itself was formed through concepts such as Meng Po Soup, the Eighteen Levels of Hell and other elements drawn from Chinese mythology. That gives the game a clear identity: a fantasy setting rooted in mythological imagery rather than a generic demon-filled backdrop.
Exploration appears to be a major part of the design. The sources mention the River of Forgetfulness, the Ghost Gate, Naihe Bridge, the Hall of Kings and the Five Ghost Emperor Mountains, with most of the realm open to free exploration. Multiple routes and hidden areas are also part of the pitch, so the game seems to favor discovery and non-linear progression instead of a strictly guided path.
Combat is described as fast, reactive and built around movement. Karma Exorcist features a 360-degree Chain Hook, dashes, double jumps, rolls and combat artifacts, while enemies are said to have distinct mechanics that require careful observation. Boss encounters are presented as especially important, with unique styles that push players to react and adapt. Soul Gems and other artifacts can be combined to shape different combat setups, which suggests some room for experimentation beyond simple stat upgrades.
A limited-time PC playtest is already available, making Steam the only place where players can try the game before launch. The announcement does not explain whether access is open to everyone or limited in some way, but the important takeaway is that an early version is already live while the release window remains unspecified.
For now, Karma Exorcist stands out as a mythology-driven Metroidvania with open exploration, build variety and a strong underworld theme. The announcement confirms the platforms and the concept, but leaves the most important practical detail — the release date — still unresolved.
