Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth will launch on September 18, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2. Hyper Games confirmed the date for the new versions alongside a fresh trailer, following the game’s original April 27 release for Switch and PC via Steam. Physical editions for PlayStation 5 and the original Nintendo Switch are also scheduled to arrive on September 18.

The adventure returns to Moominvalley during a winter that completely changes the familiar landscape and atmosphere. Players take control of Moomintroll on a journey centered on warmth and friendship, exploring a world inspired by Tove Jansson’s Moominland Midwinter. The game combines a third-person, top-down perspective with story-driven exploration through its snowy environments.
Traveling across the valley means discovering wintry locations, meeting its inhabitants, and solving environmental puzzles integrated into the surroundings. Winter’s Warmth adopts a deliberately cozy pace, leaving room to explore and experience the smaller moments found throughout Moominvalley. It is not a direct sequel to Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, despite coming from the same developer. Instead, it acts as a spiritual successor with several similarities, while keeping both adventures independent enough to be played in either order.
The game has also earned an exceptionally positive response on PC, with 98 percent positive user reviews on Steam from roughly 430 ratings. September 18 therefore brings both the PS5 and Switch 2 versions and the new physical releases, opening Moomintroll’s snowy journey to an even wider console audience.
