NEO BERLIN 2087 sets its cyberpunk detective RPG for 2028

NEO BERLIN 2087 will launch in 2028 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. ByteRockers’ Games and ELysium Game Studio confirmed the new release window alongside a trailer published ahead of Gamescom 2026. The action RPG combines investigation, combat, and narrative choices inside a futuristic Berlin where access to technology is directly determined by a person’s social position.

In 2087, the wealthiest citizens live in luxury behind a new version of the Berlin walls and have access to the most advanced technology. Everyone else struggles for resources throughout the surrounding wastelands, where settlements controlled by rival factions exist alongside malfunctioning machines. Some robots have developed lives of their own following programming failures and now attack humans on sight, making the territories beyond the city particularly dangerous.

The story follows Nolan, a ranking detective with the Neo Berlin Police Department. His assignment is to locate and protect Natalie, the Police Chief’s daughter, while also uncovering the truth behind her father’s sudden murder. The investigation gradually draws Nolan into a larger conspiracy threatening the city, while his eventual encounter with Natalie reveals that their fates are more closely connected than he initially expected.

Nolan has a unique ability that allows him to relive the final moments of victims, reconstructing memories and examining their past for clues that can help solve cases. Investigation sits alongside a more flexible approach to dangerous situations. Players can move through locations stealthily, eliminate threats with silent weapons, or confront enemies directly. Seamless switching between first- and third-person perspectives can also provide different tactical options during exploration and combat.

NEO BERLIN 2087 will include a range of weapons and customizable skills, while conversations and player actions can influence both surrounding characters and the direction of the story. When stealth breaks down, encounters can turn into close-range fights involving both blades and bullets. With 2028 now established as its release year, the new trailer brings the focus back to its combination of detective fiction, technological dystopia, player choice, and action RPG combat.
