Physint will be published by Xbox Game Studios. Kojima Productions’ action espionage project is changing shape after Sony Interactive Entertainment stepped away from the collaboration, making this a notable shift for a game presented as Hideo Kojima’s return to a genre built around stealth, tension, and cinematic storytelling.

The publisher change does not mean development has stopped. Kojima Productions will continue working on Physint, with Xbox now attached as the project’s partner. The move also expands the relationship between the Japanese studio and Microsoft beyond OD, this time through a game clearly positioned as an action espionage title.
Sony’s exit is especially striking because of Kojima’s long creative history with PlayStation-linked projects. Physint had been introduced as a production meant to push the line between games and film once again, but it still has no announced platforms and no release date.
That leaves the project in an early and undefined position for players, but one major point is now clear: Physint has not been cancelled. After searching for a new partner, Kojima Productions has found one in Xbox Game Studios, allowing the original idea to keep moving forward without being abandoned.
For players, the practical takeaway is that Physint remains a long-term project rather than an imminent release. There is still no confirmation on where or when it will launch, but its production path has changed decisively: Sony is out, Xbox is in, and Kojima’s action espionage game is still alive.
