Serious Sam: Shatterverse will launch on August 31, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. Devolver Digital and Behaviour Interactive confirmed the date for the multiversal roguelite first-person shooter alongside a new release trailer. Sam Stone is no longer the only version of the hero fighting this war: Uber Mental’s latest scheme has shattered the barriers between universes, pulling multiple Sams from alternate realities into the same conflict.

Players join the Serious Program, a multidimensional force fighting Uber Mental across unstable universes. In many timelines, Mental has already defeated Sam, leaving unfinished battles for his surviving counterparts to complete. Progress through the Shatterverse ultimately requires taking down five of Mental’s lieutenants, each serving as a major boss standing between the Serious Program and its wider objective.
The roguelite structure changes the rhythm of the series without abandoning its traditional run-and-gun foundation. Runs combine familiar Serious Sam weapons with new destructive tools, powerful boons, and modifiers capable of reshaping the rules of a particular attempt. Death does not erase every form of progress, as permanent upgrades and newly opened possibilities gradually expand the strategies available when another run begins.
Each universe is filled with unstable anomalies, hidden portals, and high-risk opportunities that can dramatically strengthen a run or bring it to an abrupt end. Classic Serious Sam enemies return alongside new monsters designed to overwhelm players through sheer numbers. Hand-crafted arenas are combined with procedurally shifting runs that travel through previously unseen worlds. The official website for Serious Sam: Shatterverse also provides a dedicated reference point for the new entry in the series.
Shatterverse therefore keeps the large battlefields, relentless pressure, massive enemy hordes, and explosive arsenal associated with Serious Sam while placing them inside a structure based on repeated attempts, escalating rewards, and changing combinations. August 31 will bring this multiversal take on the series to consoles and PC simultaneously.
